Michael
Parrish
FOLKFOOT
About the album
I recorded it in my living room. That said, there are several very talented musicians who contributed immensely to this effort. I am new to the realm of digitally downloaded albums and the lack of a physical surface on which to list credits and thank yous etc. means props must be given ... here.
Tom
Kaelin - Drum
In my opinion (and I'm certain
I am not alone in this opinion), Tommy Kaelin is one of the truly great brush
players. Needless to say he's a kick-ass drummer on a full kit; what I love
about Tommy's playing is that despite his formidable drum chops he seems to
draw on his love of playing "percussion" equally. Tom's subtle feel
puts the swing in the album; he's so deep in the pocket you may have to focus
pretty hard to pick him out in the mix. For more info about Tom's projects etc

Sean Boyd - Banjo
I sure am glad we got together for the day or two it
took to do this.
Kalista Sale Parrish -
Harmony
My wife, my best friend, my associate
producer, the mother of my child and my spiritual guide, Kalista makes her recorded
debut here, singing harmonies on Mobile Home and most notably on Top Rung; It's
no exaggeration to say that on multiple levels this album would not exist without
Kalista's creative, supportive, intuitive and affirmative influence. She helped
get the ball rolling and in the clutch, she helped ice the cake. Am I a lucky
guy or what?
Bill Kelly - Harmony
There's plenty about Bill elsewhere
on this site, as well as on his site, Mr.
Americana.com; the particular significance of Bill's presence on this record
is that his harmony vocal on Top Rung was the first time we worked together.
Bill and I recorded a Folkfoot CD "Dos Hombres" which features a few
of the tunes of Folkfoot as well as several Parrish/Kelly tunes; we toured the
UK a couple of summers ago. Bill is a tremendously talented performer, a great
singer and one of my favorite collaborators. Oh yeah, and he plays a heck of
a mandola!
Chris Hansen - 12 String
Guitar
Chris played guitar on the two
MPB albums. Best known for his role as guitar hero in the beautiful Other Half,
Chris is that rarest of creatures, a born natural guitar player. Chris played
12 string on "God is My Champion" .. I'm pretty sure that's it on
this one. But his presence is unmistakable and his contribution, as always,
inestimable. I love this guy.
Emily
Lazar - Mastering Engineer
Emily has been mastering at The
Lodge in New York City for quite a while. She took this recording under
her wing and did a beautiful job with it. She is currently Chief Mastering Engineer
at that fine facility.
